My services
I work as both a birth and postnatal doula in Doha.
As a birth doula, my aim is for couples to have the birth experience they desire by providing information on the many decisions they have to make, ensuring they feel positive towards labour and birth, helping them to believe in themselves and ensuring they feel strong in their choices. I am there for the labour and birth as a continual presence; to offer a kind word, a massage, a hug, ideas on positions that may help labour along, or simply….. to just be ‘there’. I then do two follow-up visits after the birth, to discuss any questions they may have about the birth and to offer any newborn-related support they may need.
As a postnatal doula I am there to support the new mother in whatever way she feels she needs supporting, this includes: breastfeeding support, babycare, listening to worries or concerns, cooking meals, shopping, light housework duties, caring for older siblings etc.

About me
I have lived in Abu Dhabi for 6 years and have now moved to Doha with my husband, James, and my two daughters, Phoebe (born 1999) and Maisie (born 2002).
I initially thought that living in the Middle East would give me the chance to train to become a midwife, but the opportunity here is, unfortunately, not available. However, a friend of mine heard about a doula course that was going to be happening so I thought I’d give it a go (I had never heard of a doula before!). It is the best (educational!) thing I have ever done, I absolutely adore being a doula, and wish I had had one for my births! Birth can be challenging when you are away from what you know, and from family, but I believe that having a doula can really make a positive difference to a couples birth experience, and their journey into parenthood. |
