My services
I live in Athens where there is not much awareness of doula services yet. This has given me the opportunity to inform people about “doulas” and the desire to reassure “labouring women” that they have the power and the ability to give a shorter, easier and healthier birth.
My services, which include physical, emotional and educational support during pregnancy, labour encouragment and post-natal support, are aiming to comfort and relax the future mother. The content of my services can be customised according to each woman’s unique characteristics and wishes. My role is to help women have a safe, memorable and empowering birthing experience.
The main part of my services is to offer emotional support, massages and advise on comfortable positions. I can also offer post-natal services, such as help with breastfeeding, shopping, cleaning or looking after other children. Furthermore, I am able to provide the future mother with useful information using my personal collection of books, articles movies and leaflets. I believe that this will help her to prepare for labour, breastfeeding, bonding with the child, and motherhood in general.
As a doula I am able to inform the future mother about her options concerning the breathing and positioning techniques during labour, and explain the natural process of labour and the importance of experiencing this fully. I do not make decisions for the mother or the couple, but I support them through the decision making process as I provide balanced information so the couple can make their own decisions.

My qualifications and experience
I am a Psychologist and I hold an MSc in “Psychology of Health and Management”
I have had the opportunity to work as a “labour supporter” in Homerton Hospital (London) in Spring 2008. This time was a great experience for me personally as it gave me a passion for this particular profession and a desire to grow in my knowledge and practical experience. During this time I particularly enjoyed the opportunity I had to support and encouraged women who were in the first, second and third stage of their labour.
In December 2008 I successfully completed a “Doula Course” in London (directed by “Nurturing Birth” as a birth and postnatal doula) and I have since then continued to study this very interesting subject.
I am member of “Eutokia” a Greek association that promotes natural birth. As part of this, I have attended a 3-month course relating to preparation of pregnancy, labour, and relaxation techniques during labour and parenthood. I also have a certificate of “Aromatherapy for pregnant women” and a certificate for “Baby massage” and "Pregnancy massage".
Ιn the past I have attend seminars such as:
“The child, the school and the family”, “Drama-therapy”, “Psychological and emotional health of pre-school age kids”, “Art Therapy”, “Stress management techniques”, “Diagnosis and intervention of Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder"
